Optic Fiber Works – Supervisor

Detyrat

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities

• Conducting tests to determine the physical properties of materials, such as tensile strength and elongation;
  
• Communicating with clients or contractors about project status, working with engineers to develop designs for new projects, and providing documentation for completed projects;
  
• Conducting research on new materials that could be used in the manufacturing process;
  
• Designing, constructing, and maintaining equipment used to produce fiber products;
  
• Evaluating and selecting new equipment that could improve efficiency or safety in themanufacturing process;
  
• Conducting feasibility studies for new projects and investigating potential problems in existing processes or equipment;
  
• Evaluating the health risks associated with exposure to certain materials or chemicals;
  
• Training workers in proper procedures for using equipment and machinery to reduce risk of injury or damage to equipment or materials;
  
• Inspecting equipment to ensure that it is operating properly and efficiently;

Duties & Responsibilities

• Design, plan, and oversee the installation of fiber optic cable systems;
• Read and interpret blueprints, maps, and other drawings to determine the best placement for fiber optic cables;
• Install underground conduit systems and direct horizontal boring crews;
• Work with construction crews to install aerial cable;
  
• Splice and terminate fiber optic cable;
  
• Perform tests on fiber optic cable systems to ensure proper functioning;
  
• Prepare cost estimates for fiber optic projects;
  
• Keep abreast of new developments in fiber optics technology;
  
• Assist in the development of long-range plans for fiber optic networks;
  
• Train other personnel in the installation and maintenance of fiber optic systems;
  
• Maintain records of fiber optic installations;
  
• Respond to customer inquiries regarding fiber optic services;

Kualifikimet

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or related field;
  
• 5+ years’ experience in fiber optics engineering or a related field;
  
• Strong understanding of optical fiber communication systems;
  
• Experience with fiber optic design, planning, and deployment;
  
• Familiarity with industry standards, including ITU-T and IEEE;
  
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings;
